driving lesson prices

We now have UDrive MSM instructors in twelve different locations. Please select your town from the drop-down menu below to view the manual driving lesson prices for your area.

    We provide driving lessons in various cities across the East Midlands

    Although UDrive began it’s journey providing driving lessons in Lincoln, where we still have many of our instructors, we also cover the following cities across the East Midlands;
    Burton-on-Trent, Gainsborough, Grantham, Loughborough, Melton Mowbray, Newark, Retford, Sleaford, Stamford, Worksop.

    UDrive MSM has been established for over 20 years and we hope that our reputation speaks for itself, we are very fortunate that our current and past pupils have kindly left us reviews on Google for you to read.

    We have built this reputation of being able to provide exceptionally high quality manual driving lessons by ensuring that we always put our students at the heart of everything we do and by ensuring our driving instructors are of the highest caliber.

    If you have landed on this page and thinking all of the above sounds great but you wanted to learn to drive in an automatic car, then UDrive have you covered there too.  Click here to visit our Automatic Driving Lessons page!

    Our instructors are highly trained & dedicated

    There are many driving schools and independent instructors for you to choose from and we understand that it’s quite often the case that you’ll message loads of schools/instructors at once just to see which one has the availability to allow you to begin your lessons, we would like to explain why we feel we are a driving school with a difference and it’s a big difference too;

    We carefully select our instructors to ensure that they are highly trained dedicated experts in the field and as such they truly care about you and by wanting the best for you, to not only pass your driving test but to do it in such a manner that means you’ll be a confident, capable and self-aware driver for the rest of your life.

    Our instructors regularly, throughout the year take part in their own development by completing our in-house continual professional development (CPD), this means you’ll be getting the latest and best practiced teaching and learning methods that are aimed at developing you quicker but with a more long-term view on your outlook to driving.

    This is what our pupils have to say about their lessons with us:

    Questions that some of our previous learners have asked…

    Absolutely. You can begin your driving lessons from the day of your 17th birthday. You will need to have your provisional licence in your possession which can be applied for from the day of your 16th birthday.

    The DVSA do not require you to have passed your theory test before you start your lessons but you will need to pass the theory before you can sit the practical driving test.

    Your driving instructor will discuss and help you with the theory test, they will even give you access to our theory test suite where you can practice the full multi-choice question bank and all the hazard perception videos.

    On your first lesson, your instructor will ask to see your provisional driving licence, if you could have this to hand that would be great.

    If you wear glasses or contact lenses ensure you have them with you as your instructor will also ask you to read a number plate from 20 metres away.

    If you haven’t paid for your lesson online or over the phone before your lesson you would need to either bring cash for the lesson amount or a debit/credit card, most of our instructors have mobile card machines in their car and if not you could always call the UDrive office where we can take the payment on your instructors behalf.

    Our instructors are happy to pick you up and/or drop you off at others locations other than just your home address. It’s a good idea to check with your instructor before booking the lesson as to where the pickup and drop off location is, the main reason for this is the instructor will need to allow time for travelling to their next lesson.

    Your instructor would be happy to pickup/drop off within a reasonable distance from your home address but it wouldn’t be possible for them to do this to somewhere outside of their instructing area.

    This can be handy for you for example if you usually finish sixth form at 3:50pm and you get the bus home after each day, you could then have your lesson start from sixth form but finish at home saving you the bus fare and journey for that day.

    Each of our instructors are technically classed as self-employed and as such they each have their own preference on how they take the payment for the lesson however, most of our instructors have a credit/debit card machine in their car. Here are some of the methods of payment for our instructors;

    • Card machine in the card
    • Cash
    • Bank Transfer
    • Cheque
    • Card via a phone call to the UDrive office team

    We also do block booking discounts which means if you choose to buy your lesson hours in a bulk block we can lower the price which means your making payments less often rather than each week at the start of the lesson.

    Working closely with your driving instructor you’ll master all the necessary skills required to become a driver that is independent and able to manage safely any situation you come across whilst driving.

    When you have attained this level of skill and have also passed your theory test your instructor will speak to you about booking your practical driving test and how to go about doing this.

    We absolutely do offer automatic driving lessons. We understand that times are changing and that more and more cars are becoming electric and thus automatic. We offer automatic lessons in 9 out of the 12 locations we have instructors. Our automatic instructors are in the following locations;

    Gainsborough, Grantham, Lincoln, Loughborough, Melton Mowbray, Newark, Peterborough, Sleaford, Worksop.
